Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 15, 2026

FreePark ("we", "our", or "the app") is a free parking finder app for Vancouver, BC. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Information We Collect

Location data (precise GPS)
When you use FreePark, we request access to your device's precise location. This is used solely to show parking meters near you on the map. Your location is sent to our backend server to perform a proximity search and is not stored or logged.

We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other personally identifiable information.

2. How We Use Your Location

Your location is used in real time only. It is not stored in our database, not shared with advertisers, and not used for any purpose beyond the map feature described above.

3. Third-Party Services

FreePark uses the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policy:

4. Data Retention

We do not store your location or any personal data. Parking meter data comes from the City of Vancouver's Open Data portal and is refreshed periodically.

5. Children's Privacy

FreePark is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

6. Your Rights

You can revoke location access at any time in your device settings (Settings → Privacy → Location Services on iOS; Settings → Apps → FreePark on Android). The app will fall back to a default map view of Vancouver without precise location.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy occasionally. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
